Displays blackberry, tar and clove on the nose. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a chocolate and berry undertone that's slightly spicy. A little hollow and chewy now, but should come together nicely with bottle age. Best after 2011. 30,000 cases made. James Suckling, Wine Spectator 2009
Wine Spectator Score: 88/100
A better effort than their watery 2005, the 2006 Haut-Marbuzet exhibits a deep ruby/purple color along with spicy, subtlely herbaceous, cedar, black currant, and black cherry fruit, a medium-bodied, lush texture, and sweet tannins. Much less exotic than the classic vintages of 1982 or 1990, the 2006 should drink well for 7-8 years. Wine Advocate.February, 2009
Robert Parker Score: 87/100
Tasted blind at Farr Vintners' horizontal, the 2006 Haut Marbuzet has a perfumed bouquet with redcurrant and cranberry scents, slightly savoury and meaty. The palate is balanced but needs more depth. Laden with abundant and quite plump, ferrous red fruit, it then cuts away too rapidly on the finish, although the Moroccan spices loitering around on the aftertaste give some pleasure. Drink now and over the next 5-8 years. Tasted April 2016. May 2016, www.robertparker.com
