Lots of plummy notes and chewy tannins. Full body and a juicy finish. Wait and see on this one. Mar 2017, www.jamessuckling.com
Dark crimson. Sweet and inky on the nose – quite pleasing! Black fruits and a little low on acid. Pretty wild and raw. Certainly not modernised. A little gamey.  Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2024-2035
A big, well fleshed out wine bristling with fruit. It has some slightly tight crab apple flavours, just a little squeezed, and is not as effortless as the 2015, although it still has plenty of life and forward motion. This should relax over time and offers great potential. Owned by Francis and Ghislain Boutemy, this 7.5ha estate in Leognan has gravel on limestone soils planted to 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot aged in 40% new oak. Apr 2017, www.decanter.com, Drink: 2022-2035
The 2016 Haut Lagrange is a bold, fruity wine to drink now and over the next few years. There is good freshness and aromatic nuance, but above all else, the wine is built in a style that emphasizes fruit. Silky tannins wrap around the plush, juicy finish. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
