No. 6 in Top 10 Great Value 2016 Bordeaux. Wonderful balance and depth in this Haut-Bergey red in 2016. The flavors are balanced, fairly deep and filled with dark berry and plum flavors supported by firm ripe tannins. A serious red that should age well over the coming few decades. A great wine from Haut-Bergey. Apr 2017, www.jeanniecholee.com
A firm and chewy red with blackberry, currant and light walnut character. Full body and a structured finish. Apr 17, www.jamessuckling.com
Offers a grippy, slightly extracted feel, with a layer of plum skin around the core of steeped blackberry and black currant fruit. Delivers ample tarry grip through the finish. Apr 2017, James Molesworth, www.winespectator.com
The 2016 Haut-Bergey offers notable thrust and energy in its dark fruit, grilled herb, tobacco and woodsmoke flavors. Powerful and driven in style, if a bit linear, the 2016 has good persistence and plenty of personality. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
Owned by the Garcin family, this has a clear creaminess to the texture, and a very enjoyable citrus expression freshened up by a touch of rose petal. A classic Sauvignon Blanc / Sémillon mix, aged in 50% new oak for 12 months in various barrel sizes. Apr 2017, www.decanter.com, Drink: 2018-2030
Blackish crimson. Something burnt and overripe about this nose. Then leathery and sinewy. Not a comfortable whole. Very inky tannins on the finish. Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2025-2038
The 2016 Haut Bergey has a superior bouquet compared to the previous two vintages that left this writer a bit perplexed. There is greater purity and harmony here: marine-tinged black fruit with just a hint of cassis developing with time. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin on the entry, good depth with a slightly "fishy" note in the background. It loses its ways a little towards the finish where I am seeking more structure and detail. Let's see how this performs once in bottle. Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com
