The 2015 Haut-Beauséjour is rich, powerful and explosive, with tons of Saint-Estèphe character. Smoke, gravel, cured meats and scorched earth burst from the glass in a wine endowed with terrific energy. Waves of dark raspberry jam, herbs and wild flowers follow. Burly, powerful and yet also softed by the silkiness of the vintage here, the Haut-Beauséjour is one of the pleasant surprises of the year. The blend is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot.
