Average Score 85.5

A lean, austere 1982 classified growth, Haut-Batailley exhibits a dark ruby/garnet color as well as aromas of earth, herbs, old wood, prunes, and mushrooms. Dry, tannic, and losing its fruit, this wine requires consumption. Sadly, I did not have a bottle in my cellar to double check its status, but based on the Philadelphia tasting, owners of this wine should drink it up. Wine Advocate.June, 2000
Tasted at Pebbles/Zachy’s 1982 dinner in Hong Kong. As one would expect, this Pauillac has a very foursquare graphite scented nose with touches of bay leaf and decayed autumn leaves. It is nicely defined but lacking vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity. It is very conservative with a metallic tincture towards the finish. This has just turned the corner and is in gradual decline. Tasted November 2012. Jun 2017, www.robertparker.com
