Average Score 89.6

The 2016 Chateau Godeau from proprietor Albéric Florisoone, has a clean and precise bouquet with fine delineation and poise. I like this! The palate is fresh from the start. There is superb structure here, fine acidity, plenty of black fruit laced with minerals and a vibrant, vivid finish with superb salinity. Do not overlook this little gem; it would not surprise me if it lands towards the upper end of by bracketed score. Apr 2017,, Drink: 2020-2035
The nice kirsch and blackberry core is laced with anise and bramble accents. Toasted frame, but has a chalky underpinning for energy and drive. Apr 2017, James Molesworth,
Stéphane Derenoncourt consults. Owned by granddaughter of the late Mme Gasqueton of Calon Ségur. In the commune of St-Laurent des Cambes. Very direct and fresh on the nose. Lovely balance though possibly dangerously forward.  Apr 2017,, Drink: 2022-2032
The 2016 Godeau is dark, virile and imposing. Layers of intense dark fruit fill out the wine's broad, ample frame. Clay-rich soils yield a Saint-Émilion built on breadth and textural resonance. Super-ripe dark cherry, chocolate, leather, licorice, smoke and spice infuse the deep, resonant finish. The blend is 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Julien Lavenu consults. Tasted two times. Apr 2017,
Ripe, summery fruits are marked by oak at this stage, although it should settle down over time to deliver a good easy drinker. Planted to 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. Apr 2017,, Drink: 2025-2038
