Critic Notes

Also seeing a big portion of stems, the 2012 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes is 95% Grenache (the balance is Syrah and Mourvedre) that comes from 100-year-old vines and higher elevation vineyards. Ground pepper, leather, mineral, charcoal and smoky dark fruit all flow from this medium to full-bodied, supple and nicely textured effort. Surprisingly polished and elegant, with beautiful purity of fruit and great acidity, it’s a knockout effort to drink over the coming decade. Dec 2013, www.robertparker.com

The Rhone Report
The Northern and Southern Rhone are joined by the synonymous river, a spot of Syrah in Chateauneuf du Pape blends and, to be honest, little else. In the north, the Rhone is one of the most impressive stretches of water one will see: a truly grand river.  By the time it gets to Chateauneuf it is more dual-carriageway than multi-lane ...

Domaine Gérard Raphet - Producer Portrait

The Annual Clos Vougeot Tasting : Presenting 2009
On Thursday 27th October wine journalists and the FINE+RARE team gathered for a very special event: 57 domains, one vineyard, one vintage, tasted blind. This is the second year (we hope of many) that we have organised this Clos Vougeot tasting, and quite some organisation is required. We started contacting producers back in February to try and secure a bottle ...
