Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Clos Prieur 2011 has a more intense bouquet than the Petite Chapelle with a mixture of red and black fruit, perhaps a little dusty with sous-bois notes dominating. The palate is medium-bodied with light red cherry and raspberry notes. This feels firm and solid, nicely balanced, initially austere, and yet gaining some harmony and flesh with time in the glass.
