A dark, sensual beauty, the 2016 Gazin Rocquencourt is very pretty. Succulent red plum, mint, spice and floral notes pulse with energy in a vibrant, delineated wine that has much to offer. The 2016 should drink well early because of its juiciness, but it has a good bit of supporting freshness as well. Michel Rollad is the consultant. Apr 2017,
Juicy and tannic sample with plum and berry character. Medium to full body and a chewy finish. Mar 2017,
Sappy kirsch and cherry cobbler notes form the core in this mouthfilling version, with licorice and roasted apple wood accents in the background. Stays pretty bright overall. Apr 2017, James Molesworth,
The Bonnie family's investments are starting to make themselves good with regularity and this property has made huge progress over recent years. 2015 was their best vintage yet, and this one is just a nudge ahead of that. It has rich, deep extract on the nose and lovely juicy cassis fruits with curls of woodsmoke. It is elegant and classy and has the beautiful balance of Pessac. This is a wine with extremely fine tannins, reflecting the more intellectual, austere style of the vintage compared to its 2015. From a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 45% Merlot aged in 50% new oak barrels. Michel Rolland consults. Apr 2017,, Drink: 2025-2040
They 2016 Gazin Rocquencourt offers attractive blackberry, bilberry and cedar aromas on the ample nose that does not shortchange you in terms of fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, clean and pure with fine mineralité and that effortless nature that marks out some of the best wines from Pessac-Léognan this year. This should be great value. Apr 2017,, Drink: 2021-2038
Tight sandpaper nose. A little skinny on the palate. Pinched. Apr 2017,, Drink: 2024-2034
