Scores + Notes
Very deep crimson. Very rich, voluptuous nose. Nice freshness and precision on the palate. Very luscious. A lot more successful than many grown- up Pomerol grands vins. Really zesty and plush and lovely. GV
Jancis Robinson MW Score: 17/20
Lots of blackberries, with dark chocolate on the nose. Full body with soft and velvety tannins and a delicious finish. The second wine of Nenin. Better in 2014. James Suckling, jamessuckling.com
James Suckling Score: 91/100
A blend of 81% Merlot and 19% Cabernet Franc, with 16% pressed wine and coming in at 13.9% alcohol, the Fugue de Nenin has a surprisingly reticent nose with crisp red-berried fruits, a touch of sandalwood and bell pepper, unfurling a little with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with rounded, slightly digestif tannins (that remind me of Tertre-Roteboeuf.) Soft and supple on the finish with cooked meats on the aftertaste. Fine. Tasted April 2010.
Neal Martin Score: 89-91/100
The Fugue de Nenin is a delicious, soft, finesse-styled Pomerol with elegant mulberry, plum, cherry fruit. Dark ruby, with a hint of spring flowers, it is best drunk over the next decade. Feb 2012, www.robertparker.com
Robert Parker Score: 87/100

A Pomerol Evening with Neal Martin
On Wednesday night we were privileged to have the company of Neal Martin at a small dinner in the private room of the brilliant Chez Bruce. The theme was, of course, Pomerol and Neal’s recently published book on the region. Wine and food first. The aim of the wine selection was to be eclectic rather than simply aiming for the ...
Pomerol: Small but Beautiful
Bordeaux: the foundation of any cellar. The greatest, and most famous wine producing region in the world. The heart of fine wine production. These are all arguable. And, conveniently, there is rather a lot of it. The average left bank chateau will have an annual production of up to 20,000 cases per year, and barrel cellars the size of football ...
Pomerol: A Tale of Two Vintages
We report from a visit by Pomerol Séduction, an organisation promoting eight top wines from the iconic Right Bank appellation in Bordeaux. On the tasting table were Bordeaux 2012s and 2015s - two very different vintages that both have stories to tell. As the scramble for this year’s En Primeur offerings from Bordeaux reached its climax last week, the FINE+RARE Team saw ...
Rioja Revolutionary - F+R meets Artadi's Juan Carlos Lopez de Lacalle
Last week F+R met up with Artadi’s owner and winemaker Juan Carlos Lopez de Lacalle. On meeting Juan you would not immediately think that this man is one of the most powerful producers in Spain. He is friendly, unassuming, excitable and immensely proud to be working with his youngest daughter, Patricia, who has recently joined the business along with her ...
