Critic Notes

The 2014 Franc-Mayne has a pretty bouquet with soft red plum and mulberry aromas, the oak nicely integrated, leaning to a more modern style of Saint Emilion. The palate is medium-bodied with fleshy ripe red cherry and strawberry fruit laced with spice, leading to a composed, slightly gamey finish that feels long in the mouth. It does not quite match with the quality it showed in barrel, but it will improve with time in bottle, hence the plus sign attached to my score. Mar 2017, www.robertparker.com
