The 2021 Fourcas Dupré has quite a perfumed, floral, Margaux-like bouquet displaying good vigor, and plenty of blueberry and iris flower scents. The palate is medium-bodied and cohesive, with sappy black fruit and a simple yet fresh finish. This will drink nicely over 15 years.

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2021 Fourcas Dupre offers subtle scents of crushed redcurrants and Bing cherries with hints of wet pebbles, damp soil, and tar, plus a touch of sauteed herbs. Light to medium-bodied, the palate has a chewy texture with crunchy, herb-tinged, red and black fruits, finishing with appealing energy.

Punchy and confident on the palate, this shines brightly with generous strawberries and red cherries edged by raspberry leaf and touches of black chocolate and graphite. Tannins are fine and give gently gripping support to the overall texture as well as bringing an extra layer of pencil lead, salinity and bitterness to the fruit. An upfront and charming wine that is well presented with excellent clarity.

A strong effort, the 2021 Fourcas-Dupré reveals aromas of sweet berries, loamy soil and nicely integrated new oak. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and lively, with good depth at the core and ripe tannins, it will offer a broad drinking window.

An exceptionally reliable estate in Listrac with a skilful team; and you find here well placed bright autumnal fruit, carefully extracted, but simply not concentrated enough through the mid palate to maintain momentum.
