Tasted at the Chateau Figeac vertical at the property. The 1966 Figeac is a brilliant Saint Emilion that must rank as one of the best Right Banks of the vintage that is more reputed for its Left Bank wines. Deep in color, it has a magnificent, majestic bouquet that knocks you out: very perfumed and floral with a hint of peppermint developing with time. It is actually quite exotic for the normally conservative 1966 vintage. The palate is beautifully balanced and refined, here quite Left Bank in style with a fine line of acidity, filigree tannin and an effortless finish that will leave a Cheshire cat grin on your face. Pristine bottles such as this should be sought without hesitation. Tasted June 2015. Aug 2016, www.robertparker.com
