Alain Raynaud's 2015 du Parc emerges from two parcels; one next to Fleur Cardinale and the second next to Monbousquet. It is also the richest wine Raynaud has made so far. A racy powerful wine, the du Parc hits the palate with generous dark blue/purplish fruit, mocha, spice, new leather and new oak. The 60% new oak is very nicely balanced, largely because the half of the barrels are larger, 400-liter barrels, where the wine was fermented. Sumptuous, rich and flamboyant the du Parc is the embodiment of the hedonistic side of 2015. Apr 2016,
Quite a lot of gloss paint aroma on the nose. Almost worrying dark purple colour too. Ripe fruit, slight bitter hints, lots of tannic grip. Seems to be heavily processed and doesn’t quite convince. (RH). Apr 2016,, Drink: 2019-2023
The 2015 Château du Parc has an uncomplicated blackberry and raspberry preserve-scented bouquet, a layer of new oak to be subsumed, yet showing satisfying delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin and a huge grip. There is a lot of extraction here and as a consequence it seems to lack sufficient finesse and delineation on the forceful finish. Hopefully it will gain more refinement by the time of bottling. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2019-2030
