Average Score 90.3

The 2016 Destieux put in a far superior performance this year than in 2015. It has a tightly wound bouquet with black cherries and wilted violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity, a gentle grip and a satisfying and quite persistent, very elegant finish. It is one of the best wines that I have tasted from this estate...more please! Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2020-2038
Blackberry jam, chocolate, cocoa, licorice and crushed rocks make a strong opening statement in the 2016 Destieux. Unctuous, ripe and bold, with tremendous palate resonance and overall depth, this wine shows the more opulent side of Saint-Émilion to great effect. Destieux is decidedly exotic and delivers tons of intensity and pure excitement. The 2016 was impressive on each of the occasions I tasted it. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
This has an attractive chalkiness on the finish, preceded by coffee grounds, blackberry and toasted almonds through the mid-palate. 66% Merlot, 17% Cabernet Franc and 17% Cabernet Sauvignon. 8ha owned by the Dauriac family, with Alain Raynaud as consultant. Apr 2017, www.decanter.com, Drink: 2025-2040
Broad, relaxed style of St-Émilion with some toasty dried-fruit notes. Then a little drying on the end. Solid rather than inspiring. Apr 2017, www.jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2025-2038
Dry spice aromas lead to a panoply of wood on the nose and moouth. The fruit is very subdued in this wine. Time will tell if the potential of the black fruits overcomes the assertive wood characters. Apr 2017, Roger Voss, www.wineenthusiast.com
