The 2014 Desmirail is a Margaux that I tasted last year. Like then, I feel that this is holding back on the nose, perchance biding its time, though I admire the tightly wound brambly red fruit that feels nicely defined. It just needs to "rev its motors" a little. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp acidity, an abiding sense of symmetry and precision that comes through on the finish. I expect it will gain more vigor with a couple of years in bottle. Mar 2017, www.robertparker.com
Supple and expressive in the glass, the 2014 Desmirail is a pretty, open-knit wine that should drink well upon release. Silky tannins wrap around the gracious, expressive finish, where hints of dark red cherry, plum, licorice, crushed flowers and mint add further shades of nuance.
