Deeply colored with coffee, truffle, black cherry and stone notes, this ripe, round wine is filled with chocolate cherry and shows some espresso in the finish.
Aromas of blackberries and spices with dark chocolate too. Medium to full body, with fresh acidity and a long clean finish. Racy tannins. A touch more in the mid-palate would be better.
Concentrated black fruits, quite robust, slightly gamey, lots of flesh and well-extracted tannins. Good, if chunky, style. Drink 2015-2025.
A delicious combination of new oak, black currants, earth and spice are found in this dark ruby/plum-colored 2011. Slightly stern, but round and charming, this medium-bodied wine should achieve full maturity in 4-6 years and last for 15-20. Wine Advocate.April, 2014
The de Fieuzal 2011 appears to have a lot of extraction on the nose with super ripe dark cherries, crème de cassis and blueberry jam. It is very intense and primal, although missing a terroir expression. The palate is ripe and packed full of earthy fruit. There is certainly a lot of extraction here, ditto a lot of new oak that is very dominant at this stage. It needs to develop more finesse by the time of bottling. Tasted April 2012. Neal Martin,
