Light gold. Suave smoke- and mineral-accented aromas of fresh lemon and lime, with hints of white flowers, anise and ginger in the background. I'd have guessed that there was some oak used here, but there wasn't. Palate-staining citrus and orchard fruit flavors show excellent clarity and put on weight with air. Finishes spicy and long, with repeating floral character and a touch of chalkiness. Note that this wine is not labeled "2010" but rather has "L10" on the back label. Dec 2014, www.vinous.com

The NV (2011) Extra Brut L'Amateur, Léclapart's entry-level wine, is soft and nicely textured throughout. Almonds, lemon oil, white flowers and mint take shape in the glass. Overall, the Amateur is a pretty wine, although it could use a little more continuity through the mid-palate and finish. A slight vegetal note typical of 2011 appears with time in the glass, but it is not overly dominant. In fact, the 2011 just gets better and better with air. L'Amateur is the only Léclapart cuvée done in tank. Disgorged January 2015. Jul 2015, www.vinous.com, Drink: 2015-2019
