Produced by the de Bouärd family of Château Angélus, this is a Merlot-dominated wine. It is structured and dense, with Cabernet Franc perfumes which lend extra interest. As with so many wines in this year, the crisp black-currant acidity gives the wine a wonderful lift. Apr 2017, Roger Voss,
The 2016 Daugay, which is owned by Christian de Bouärd de Laforest, has an attractive stony bouquet with pressed flower aromas filtering through the red and black fruit. The palate is sweet on the entry with candied orange peel fusing with the black cherry and blueberry fruit, with a tang of spice surfacing towards the finish that maintains impressive substance. Suave and very sensual, enjoy this over the next 12-18 years. Apr 2017,, Drink: 2020-2038
Belongs to de Boüard family. Savoury and juicy. Again, rather drying end. But there is life and drama! Apr 2017,, Drink: 2024-2035
The 2016 Daugay shows a more powerful side of Saint-Émilion. Iron, grilled herbs, dark red/black fruit, chalk and smoke give the wine its distinctive savory aromatic profile. The tannins are bit rustic, but otherwise this is a fine showing. In a second tasting, the 2016 offered more density and overt fruit expression. Tasted two times. Apr 2017,
