Shows good fruit and depth for the vintage with plenty of juicy tannins, fine acidity and a medium to long finish.
The 2017 Croizet-Bages is a dense, relatively full-bodied Pauillac with tons of flavor intensity and volume. The tannins are perhaps a bit rustic at this stage, but that does not meaningfully detract from the pleasure this expressive Pauillac affords. There is lovely depth to the red fruit. Look for Croizet-Bages to be a sleeper in 2017.
Mid crimson. Pretty, floral fragrance. Supple, smooth and quite gentle but scented on the palate too. A little bit of char on the finish and could perhaps do with a little more mid-palate weight for the longer term. (JH)
The 2017 Croizet-Bages has a light, slightly herbaceous bouquet that needs a little more fruit intensity. More vigor please! The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, quite gentle in the mouth with a discrete spiciness coming through with time. Interestingly, I left my sample for five to ten minutes and notice more harmony and depth evolve towards the finish. This Pauillac is often given a short shrift, but I am keeping an open mind until I taste this in bottle. Tasted twice with consistent notes.
