This was sampled from new barrels (whereas the final blend will have 50%), so it seemed oakier than it will prove in bottle. It’s a serious, sturdy red, with notes of coffee bean and cedar wood and classic Pauillac flavours of cassis and aromatic spices. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2022-2035
Sweet and round and just a little simple on the end. Chewy. But nothing to object to. Apr 2016,, Drink: 2021-2029
The 2015 Croizet-Bages is a straightforward, somewhat chunky Pauillac that offers good depth and personality in a fairly accessible style. Attractive red cherry, tobacco, cedar and leather open up nicely in the glass. It would be nice to see a little more mid-palate depth and greater finesse in the tannins, but this is still a solid effort. Apr 2016,
The 2015 Croizet Bages has a rather withdrawn bouquet with tertiary red berry fruit that needs more vigor and delineation. It feels foursquare compared to its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with better weight and fruit concentration than I expected. The oak is neatly integrated and there is an attractive spicy edge on the finish. This Croizet-Bages finishes much better than it starts - let's hope those aromatics can pull their socks up during elevage. Apr 2016,
