Average Score 90.0

One of St.-Emilion’s most hedonistically and lavishly endowed/ extravagant wines is a big-time winner. Unfortunately, the production from proprietor Axelle Courdurie is minuscule. The 2011 exhibits exotic black cherry and black raspberry fruit intermixed with spice aromas that resemble a Northern Rhone such as Cote Rotie. The complexity of the aromatics at this stage was surprising. Medium to full-bodied with luscious fruit and a silky, suave, savory finish, it will provide delicious drinking over the next 7-8 years. Croix de Labrie is produced from 100% old vine Merlot. Deep purple in color with fresh blackberry, chocolate, coffee and plum aromas, the wine is supple in texture with lush, sweet, black cherries. theWineCellarInsider.com
Deep purple hue. Rich and exotic. Smooth, suave texture. Toasty, mocha notes. A touch dry on the finish but a successful rendering of modern Saint-Emilion. Drink 2016-2024. Decanter.com
Good fruit with round and velvety tannins but a little more fruit in the mid-palate would make this wine. Let's see how it develops. jamessuckling.com
