Perfect balance, lots of class, super-refined texture, great length, great wine: purity and power! Drink 2020-2040. (19 points) Michel Bettane,
The 2010 Coutet, a blend of 75% Semillon, 23% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Muscadelle, is pale lemon-gold in color with a nose that explodes with decadent pineapple, mango and lemon meringue pie notes with touches of acacia honey, candle wax and yuzu. Full-on opulent in the mouth, the palate sings with concentrated citrus and tropical fruit layers, finishing long and honeyed. This has 160 grams per liter of residual sugar. Aug 2018,
The Chateau Coutet 2010 was a beauty from barrel with its payload of 154gms of residual sugar and sure enough, after a year in bottle it is one of the most compelling sweet wines in the vintage. It shows immense clarity on the nose, with the oak still a little prominent at the moment, but it will integrate with bottle age. The palate is well-balanced with a fine line of acidity. There is an engaging sense of tension here, real drive and mineralite towards the finish, like a cousin of Doisy-Daene but with a little more bravura. There is a sense of purpose about this 2010 Sauternes, with a persistent finish that keeps you coming back for more. Bravo! Drink now-2030+., 2014
Smudgy and interesting, already, on the nose. Lots of richness and smoothness. Really. This approaches the idea of a classic vintage with its density and concentration. Long. Very fine. RS 156 g/l, TA 4.2. 14%
Really ripe and fleshy, offering delicious glazed peach, apricot and honey notes, with lots of orange blossom and fig and a very rich finish. Starting to take shape now too. Impressive. —J.M. James Molesworth,
The 2010 Coutet exhibits wonderful aromatics of dried mangoes, dried apricots and marmalade, and a great concentration of botrytis flavours. Rich, dense but with firm acidity and great length, this is an impressive effort from a producer not usually known for reaching such heights. This fantastic Sauternes shows a wonderful balance between sweet layered flavours and firm acidity, has a long lingering finish and is built to age for decades. This is one for your cellar. Jeannie Cho Lee MW
The 2010 Chateau Coutet has 154-gms/litre residual sugar, one of the highest in Sauternes/Barsac. It is endowed with a delightful bouquet of freshly sliced mango, Tropicana and a touch of honey, with good definition and minerality. The palate is medium-bodied with very impressive balance and poise, and is slightly viscous in the mouth, with almond, lemon curd and a touch of orange peel. The finish is composed and long. The 2010 Coutet is very impressive for the vintage, although I suggest not quite reaching the stellar heights of the magnificent 2009. Neal Martin, Wine Advocate May 2011
An almost savoury nose against the orange blossom fighting through with developing apricots. It seems to have more weight in the mouth than many other sweets but the acidity keeps it fresh and ripe citrus fruits overcome the slightly toasty aspects.
