The Coutet 2009 is a sensational effort from Philippe Baly and his team. It has a fragrant nose of honey, vervain tea, pineapple, frangipane and apple-blossom, well defined if needing a little more vigour at the moment. The palate is vibrant on the entry, informed by touches of apricot and orange peel, very focused and tensile towards the long, sensuous, viscous finish. It has the same minerality exuded by Doisy-Daene and reminds me of a stellar ’62 tasted just a few weeks previously. A magnificent Coutet. Neal Martin, Wine Advocate May 2010

The 2009 Coutet has a very intense nose of apricot, papaya, honeysuckle and orange cordial that is very well defined. Interestingly I write the same comment as my appraisal out of barrel in that I would prefer just a little more vigor. However that is a minor quibble. The palate is very well- balanced with a rounded, caressing entry. There is certainly tremendous weight in the mouth and abundant botrytis, especially upon the unctuous finish. This has great potential – a fantastic wine from one of the finest Barsac estates. Drink now-2035+ eRobertParker.com.February, 2013

Rather simple, floral, barley- sugar aromas. Sweet? Certainly. Interesting? A bit more debatable. Hot finish.

Soft and attractive, with berry and chocolate character. Medium-bodied, with a pleasant finish. Pretty young wine

UGC 2010 En Primeurs Tasting
On this rather gloomy, wet, winter's day, The Royal Opera House opened its doors to an army of wine professionals to sample the 2010 Bordeaux vintage. This juxtaposition effortlessly absorbed the wine tasting into its characterful ...
