Average Score 88.9

Some pretty cool fruit to this young wine with blackberry and mineral character. Medium body, firm and silky tannins and a delicious finish. Very well done for the vintage.
The 2017 Couhins-Lurton has a pure bouquet with black cherry, cassis and liquorice aromas. This has a little more fruité than its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin that loosens up with aeration, leading to a fresh, well defined finish that is just pretty and floral.
Very dark with purple rim. Pure cassis nose with a touch of savoury graphite. On the palate, smoothed texture, plenty of freshness, perhaps just a little dry on the very end but more middle than quite a few Pessacs tasted today. Chewy but fruity finish. (JH)
The 2017 Couhins-Lurton is deep garnet-purple colored with a nose of crushed blackberries, black raspberries and blueberries plus touches of lilacs and dried Provence herbs. The palate is medium-bodied, providing a plush texture and plenty of freshness, finishing fruity. Apr 2018,
The 2017 Couhins is a bold, rustic wine. This is an especially hearty style, but the 2017 is the kind of wine that will really shine at the dinner table. Dark plum, tobacco, grilled herb and leather all develop in the glass. There is no shortage of density or power, but less in the way of finesse at this stage. The blend is 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 11% Petit Verdot and 6% Cabernet Franc.
