Critic Notes

One of the most elegant and ready-to-drink la Landonnes in the past 10-12 years is the 2004 Cote Rotie la Landonne. Already perfumed and complex, with beautiful smoked beef, rose petals, forest floor and sweet dark fruits, it almost has a Pinot Noir-like elegance and seamlessness. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated, and with nicely integrated acidity, drink it anytime over the coming decade. eRobertParker.com.September, 2015

La Las Land: 2012 Guigal Côte-Rôtie
Guigal’s legendary single vineyard Côte-Rôties from the under-the-radar 2012 vintage are now available. And their incredible run of scores continues, making them an unmissable opportunity… What are the La Las? “La Las” is the affectionate name given to Guigal’s three single vineyard wines from Côte-Rôtie in the Northern Rhône: La Turque, La Mouline and La Landonne. These Syrahs are almost ...

With the benefit of one consistent taster throughout the decade - not to mention a ...

Solaia Vertical with Antonio Galloni, Piero Antinori and Renzo Cotarell
The evening started with Piero Antinori explaining how Solaia first came about, how it was effectively the result of a very lucky accident, much in the same way as Champagne. In 1978, the vines used to make Antinori’s Tignanello produced an unusually high yield of Cabernet Sauvignon. Rather than waste this, or blend it into the other wines, they decided ...

Focus on the Northern Rhone
As the 2014 En Primeur campaign has now come to a close, our focus at FINE+RARE has shifted to the Northern Rhône. An as yet undiscovered region for many, this small vineyard area (just 5% of the entire Rhône Valley’s overall output) undoubtedly produces some of the greatest and most singular wines found anywhere on the fine wine landscape. For ...
