Critic Notes

A generous application of wood sets off the pungent menthol, cassis, game and freshly crushed herb aromas. There is outstanding complexity and plenty of size, weight and power to the broad-shouldered flavors that display plenty of palate and tannin-buffering dry extract on the superbly persistent finish. This should be excellent but like the Rugiens, this is unlikely to drink well before at least 10 years of age. Tasted: Apr 15, 2014. Drink: 2027+

Score: 91-94/100Allen Meadows, Burghound

The 2012 Corton-Greves Grand Cru has a floral, feminine bouquet with pretty iodine-tinged black and red berry fruit that are graceful and defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a fleshy entry, well judged acidity and builds towards a convincing, ripe blackcurrant and boysenberry finish that demonstrates fine tension. Excellent.
