Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. Laurent Ponsot’s Corton Grand Cru Cuvee du Bordon ’11 offers impressive intensity on the nose: plenty of wood here, although there is at least a satisfactory level of fruit to back it up. The palate is medium-bodied with a zesty, lively entry. It does not have the sophistication or complexity of top Corton, although it is balanced, clean and fresh on the finish. It needs a little more sophistication. Nov 2014, www.robertparker.com
