Critic Notes

Harvested at over 14% natural potential alcohol, the 2000 Corton-Charlemagne is unquestionably an outstanding wine. It bursts from the glass with loads of apples, spices, and toast scents. This intense, medium to full-bodied, chewy-textured wine is crammed with apple pulp, pears, lemons, and copious quantities of spices. It is an opulent wine with a zesty personality. Projected maturity: 2004-2012. Dec 2001, www.robertparker.com

Domaine Henri Boillot - Producer Portrait
As Stephen Tanzer outlines in his recent report, Henri Boillot is the first out picking on the Montrachet slopes. Henri Boillot on Burgundy 2018
The Vintage Henri Boillot is widely seen as the top micro-negociant for the production of the Cote d’Or’s finest white wines, including Le Montrachet. Whilst he believes acidity and tension are vital for ...

A showcase of Faiveley wines at the Annual Domaine Faiveley Grand Cru lunch
On a sunny afternoon last week, my fellow Private Client Account Managers, Martin and Peter and I attended an insightful tasting of the wines of Domaine Faiveley. Hosted by winemaker Erwan Faiveley, this was more than a regular tasting with lunch. Held at the two Michelin starred ‘The Square’, chef Phillip Howard devised a menu that beautifully and sympathetically allowed ...

The Burgundy Icons
With so many producers operating in Burgundy, it is very difficult to provide a definitive account of all the iconic growers in the region. We have identified domaines that are icons of their communes based on the consistency and quality of the wines they produce, along with being benchmark examples within the region they come from. We also look at ...

Mischief and Mayhem Wine Tasting in Hong Kong
When it comes to Burgundy: find a producer you like, and stick to them. An old adage, but a true one. Regardless of the vintage or the cuvee they produce, it’s a pretty good rule of thumb. The problem is, when there are so many great producers in Burgundy, each with a myriad of wine locations, where on earth ...
