Awesome and bright with intensity, the 2015 Sicilia Menfi Cometa is the latest edition of a landmark white wine from Sicily. The Fiano grape reveals its natural complexity slowly with delicate renderings of stone fruit, saffron, lightly toasted pine nut and yellow rose. The effect is silky and svelte in terms of texture, but the finish is driven by a long sense of power and persistence. Winemaking is executed under extreme temperature control and the wine rests on fine lees in stainless steel in order to achieve its profound sense of depth and dimension. It should evolve slowly for the next decade. Jan 2017, www.robertparker.com
