The Clos de Vougeot is also showing a fine potential – although not as expressive as the Ruchottes. The nose is brimming with layers of ripe fruit – a bit more densely and darker expressed but still with a fine freshness and a fine earthy minerality. On the palate rich almost velvet with a weighty mid-palate fruit – juicy and with a lovely freshness for the terroir in this vintage. A very fine Clos de Vougeot indeed .. especially enjoy the juicy freshness of the mid-palate fruit – will be interesting to follow over the years. Jun 2016,, Drink: 2036+
(from a parcel situated by the Château at the top of the slope and just below the climat known as Le Musigni; on the old maps, it was designated as Montiotes Hautes). Moderate wood influence still allows the earthy dark berry fruit aromas that are infused with floral, humus and tea nuances to shine. There is outstanding intensity and concentration to the big-bodied, powerful and serious flavors that deliver superb length on the emphatically structured finale that is a bit less youthfully austere than usual. Even so, this excellent effort is going to need at least a decade first. Dec 2016,
There are five tonneaux of the 2015 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru this year, matured in 70-75% new oak as Christine felt the structure could absorb that level of new oak. It has a very complex bouquet with intense red and black fruit, hoisin, marmalade and blood orange. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, very structured and beautifully defined, the new oak lending substance towards the persistent finish. It will require 4-5 years to subsume the wood, but it will be worth waiting for. Dec 2016,, Drink: 2021-2045
