The 2015 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru from Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux reveals a rich bouquet of plum, incense, creamy spice and smoked duck. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and layered, with a fine-grained but firm chassis of tannin which will demand some bottle age, and good depth at the core. Charles Lachaux observes that the Clos de Vougeot, which is not blessed with the domaine's best vine genetics, is one of the parcels which has demonstrated the greatest improvement with biodynamic farming. (from vines next to the wall by Grands-Echézeaux). Moderate reduction presently renders the nose tough to read but there is fine freshness and energy to the intense, rich and muscular big-bodied flavors that retain a solid sense of detail before culminating in a firm, serious and built-to-age finish. There is some youthful austerity present as well as a touch of rusticity and this is going to require an extended stay in a cool cellar to resolve the tannic spine. Dec 2016, www.burghound.com

Clos Vougeot 2013
Thursday 28th October saw our annual  Clos Vougeot tastings. Wine journalists gathered at Lower Thames Street to take part in one of the highlights of our calendar: 33 wines from 32 domains, one vineyard and one vintage, all tasted blind. We are rather proud of our Clos Vougeot tasting at FINE+RARE. While blind tastings are hardly uncommon, the chance to ...

The Annual Clos Vougeot Tasting : Presenting 2009
On Thursday 27th October wine journalists and the FINE+RARE team gathered for a very special event: 57 domains, one vineyard, one vintage, tasted blind. This is the second year (we hope of many) that we have organised this Clos Vougeot tasting, and quite some organisation is required. We started contacting producers back in February to try and secure a bottle ...

The F+R Annual Clos Vougeot Tasting Makes it to Hong Kong
In December we hosted our largest event in Hong Kong to date. In a spin off from our annual tasting in London, we cracked open 20 different bottles of Clos Vougeot – all from different producers, all from the same vintage: 2011. As a bit of a challenge, we kept things interesting by serving each wine blind. Tasting blind is ...

A visit from Domaines Barons de Rothschild
This week we were honoured to host our long standing partner Domaines Barons de Rothschild's commercial director Jean-Sebastien Philippe for a very special tasting.... It is not every day that one has the opportunity to taste a line up of wines from all of DBR's Bordeaux properties; in fact even individual tastings rarely take place outside of Bordeaux, so we ...
