Critic Notes

Healthy dark red. Ripe aromas of black cherry, licorice, mocha and espresso. Highly concentrated but backward, conveying terrific intensity to its flavors of black cherry, wild herbs and salty minerality. As youthfully imploded as this wine is, it can't hide its thickness of texture. Jadot's vines in the lower part of the Clos along the Route Nationale benefited from the sweetness and roundness of the 2015 vintage, noted Barnier, but this wine does not convey a high-pH or late-picked impression (it was harvested on September 10). Finishes tactile, ripely tannic and long. Stuffed with fruit but does it have ultimate class? Jan 2017, www.vinous.com

The 2015 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru has an expressive nose with red cherry, cranberry and strawberry fruit, a feminine bouquet with neatly integrated new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp acidity, quite tensile in the mouth with a slightly pinched, compact finish that should broaden out once it has completed its elevage. This is a respectable grand cru, even if I would not hold it up as one of Jadot's top-tier 2015s. Dec 2016, www.robertparker.com

Fragrant nose with bright, red crunchy fruit and notes of dark plum. Very high tannins, but quite fine and add excellent structure along with the ripe acidity. Oct 2016

Clos Vougeot 2013
Thursday 28th October saw our annual  Clos Vougeot tastings. Wine journalists gathered at Lower Thames Street to take part in one of the highlights of our calendar: 33 wines from 32 domains, one vineyard and one vintage, all tasted blind. We are rather proud of our Clos Vougeot tasting at FINE+RARE. While blind tastings are hardly uncommon, the chance to ...

The Annual Clos Vougeot Tasting : Presenting 2009
On Thursday 27th October wine journalists and the FINE+RARE team gathered for a very special event: 57 domains, one vineyard, one vintage, tasted blind. This is the second year (we hope of many) that we have organised this Clos Vougeot tasting, and quite some organisation is required. We started contacting producers back in February to try and secure a bottle ...

The F+R Annual Clos Vougeot Tasting Makes it to Hong Kong
In December we hosted our largest event in Hong Kong to date. In a spin off from our annual tasting in London, we cracked open 20 different bottles of Clos Vougeot – all from different producers, all from the same vintage: 2011. As a bit of a challenge, we kept things interesting by serving each wine blind. Tasting blind is ...
