The 2021 Clos Floridene has a perfumed, incense-tinged bouquet of light tobacco and undergrowth aromas and decent fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, pretty red fruit and a beautifully balanced, cohesive finish. This is how to do 2021 without having to push too hard.

The 2021 Clos Floridène is quite floral and aromatic in this vintage. Crushed herbs, rose petal mint and red berry fruit all take shape in the glass. The 2021 is a pretty wine that reflects the lighter weight of the year. I would prefer to drink it on the early side.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2021 Clos Floridene has a black pepper laced nose over red berry preserves and forest floor hints. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is clean if a little dilute and chewy with a short finish.

Gunsmoke reduction, savoury black fruits, cloves on the nose, this has a good palate feel overall, sappy fresh fruits, and the feel of a wine that has the everything in place to round out further over ageing. One to look out for in the Graves appellation. 30% new oak.

Sleek and suave on the palate, this has a gorgeous clear juicy quality, not trying too hard or doing too much. I like the purity and the lick of wet stone and liquorice at the end. It has charm and a playful nature but gentle too, a good balance, so appealing and easy to like with a touch of clove spice at the end and tannins that build up to more texture and presence by the final mouthfeel. Tasted twice.
