Average Score 91.5

This is a big wine but is well structured, with nicely extracted liquorice, chocolate and damson flavours without overdoing it. Benoit Trocard does this glamour-with-control thing so perfectly (although this is a heavy bottle, even for St-Émilion). Apr 2017, www.decanter.com, Drink: 2025-2040
The 2016 Clos Dubreuil has a very powerful bouquet that feels a little overdone compared to some of its more refined and finessed Saint Emilion peers. The palate is better with good definition, layer upon layer of black fruit that is neatly enmeshed with the new oak. It feels modern and glossy in style, yet fortunately it retains satisfying focus on the grippy finish. It will need several years in bottle, during which I hope it manifests more fleshiness to counter the structure. At the moment I would be leaning towards the 2015, but the two wines will be interesting to compare once in bottle. Apr 2017, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2022-2042
The 2016 Clos Dubreuil is not a shy wine. Plump, juicy and extroverted, it offers up a compelling mélange of inky blue and purplish fruit, crème de cassis, spice, chocolate and lavender. The voluptuous style will appeal most to readers who enjoy the opulent side of Saint-Émilion. Tasted two times. Apr 2017, www.vinous.com
