The 2021 Clos du Roy is made from 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Malbec. Deep garnet-purple in color, it delivers scents of juicy red and black cherries, warm plums, and spice cake with wafts of dried herbs and underbrush. Medium-bodied, the palate is dilute with chewy yet approachable tannins and a short finish.

The 2021 Clos du Roy is quite fragrant on the nose, lifted by some polished oak, though the fruit feels pure and focused. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and fine acidity. A bit compact, but there is energy on the finish. This is a fine Fronsac in the making.
