The 1988 Clos des Jacobins is a beautifully made, deep ruby-colored wine, with a bouquet of spring flowers, olives, smoky blackcurrants, and licorice. In the mouth, there is plenty of rich, concentrated, opulent fruit, modest tannins, and good length. I prefer it to the 1989. Anticipated maturity: Now-2003. Feb 1993, www.robertparker.com
