Critic Notes

The 2015 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru has a focused, quite reserved bouquet that seems to temper the precocity of the growing season and allow the stony terroir to filter through the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with supple and extremely fine tannin, just the right amount of salinity with an edgy and vibrant, feminine finish. This is a graceful Clos de la Roche from Bichot that should age with style. Dec 2016, www.robertparker.com, Drink: 2020-2040

(from Genavrières). Heavy reduction runs to mercaptans and while this may clean up, it’s a concern. The good news is that this is a big, powerful and impressively concentrated wine with absolutely outstanding length and richness. However, no matter how impressive the underlying material might be, it’s impossible to know at this stage whether the nose will clean up properly and thus I underscore that my range is provisory. The Albert ...

Clos Vougeot 2013
Thursday 28th October saw our annual  Clos Vougeot tastings. Wine journalists gathered at Lower Thames Street to take part in one of the highlights of our calendar: 33 wines from 32 domains, one vineyard and one vintage, all tasted blind. We are rather proud of our Clos Vougeot tasting at FINE+RARE. While blind tastings are hardly uncommon, the chance to ...
