Critic Notes
A beautifully well-layered nose offers notes of red currant, rose petal, smoked meat and spice nuances. There is a highly seductive texture to the broad-shouldered flavors that possess excellent volume and plenty of mouth coating extract that buffers well the moderately firm tannic spine on the powerful and lingering finish. At present there is very good but not truly elite depth though more will undoubtedly develop. Tasted: Jan 15, 2014. Drink: 2024+
Score: 91-93/100 Allen Meadows, Burghound
The 2012 Clos de la Roche has a perfumed bouquet with rose petals scents joining the fresh strawberry, pomegranate and cranberry aromas. There is an airiness to the aromatics that is quite appealing. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins, but overall it is balance and tensile, with good acidity on the sinewy finish. Give this 2 or 3 years in bottle to mellow. Fine.
