Average Score 92.0

Seductively rich and supple with layers of elegant plum, cherry and currant flavors that are beautifully defined before the tannins kick in on the finish. The notes linger on and on. Best from 1998 through 2009.-James Suckling, Wine Spectator 1989
The 1986 is among the greatest Clerc-Milon in my memory, and continues to represent one of the better values of the 1986 vintage. Dark ruby/purple with a super bouquet of sweet, toasty new oak, plums, black currants, licorice, and cedar, on the palate, the wine is very concentrated, rich and powerful, yet atypically soft and fleshy for a 1986. While this wine should age well for another two decades, it can be drunk much earlier than many of the 1986 Pauillacs. It is a sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: Now-2006. Last tasted, 1/91. Robert Parker, Bordeaux Book, 3rd Edition # B1
The 1986 Clerc Milon, which was still around 22 hectares at this time, is a blend of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc. I last tasted this in April 2013 when it showed well. Three years later, it has a very meaty, fully mature bouquet with attractive secondary aromas of singed leather and oxtail scents developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied, a little rustic on the entry, grainy in texture, masculine with graphite, leather and dried blood. Quite a spicy Pauillac, ferrous even and showing a little dryness towards the finish, this is a commendable Clerc-Milon that is beginning to show more of its bucolic charm, but I would still take pleasure in seeing this on the dinner table. Tasted September 2016. Dec 2016, www.robertparker.com
