A red with blackberry and blueberry aromas and flavors. It’s medium-bodied with richness, density and roundness for the vintage. Together and focused.
The 2021 Clément-Pichon has a clean, fresh bouquet of blackberry, wild hedgerow and very light mint aromas. The palate is balanced with slightly gritty tannins, some weight on the midpalate, sapid black fruit and an old-school, tobacco-tinged finish. This should drink well for 12–15 years. A nice surprise.
Cloves, soft fruits, a dash of smoky tar and white pepper spice to add depth, but overall this has been extremely carefully extracted to the point that things taper to a finish fairly quickly. Chalky tannins on the finish. Faultless, but without huge personality.
