This shows real depth and power with so much vine bark, mushroom and currant aromas and flavors. Full and chewy. Excellent. Old vine wine that is truly a dream. Best ever. Mar 2016, www.JamesSuckling.com
From 100% old vine Merlot , with vines that average 65 years of age, comes a daydream of blackberry liqueur, minerality, molten chocolate and pure, black cherries. Fat, lush, juicy and rich, round and supple, this wine is a Jeffrey Davies Selection Exclusive. Apr 2016, www.thewinecellarinsider.com
Offers solid weight, with a loamy hint underscoring the dark plum and red currant fruit, while a strong tobacco edge checks in on the finish. This has a little more integration to go, but everything is there. Mar 2016, James Molesworth, www.WineSpectator.com
It’s worth trading up to the old vine cuvée from this plateau-located château, made entirely from Merlot. It’s a bold, oaky style that needs time in bottle, but the tannins are stylish, the wine focused and bright. Apr 2016, www.timatkin.com, Drink: 2022-2030
They 2015 Clarisse Vieilles Vignes is the sixth vintage from the 3.5-hectare part of the vineyard and is pure Merlot aged in 50% new oak. It has a ripe and powerful bouquet, a touch of warmth coming through, but not too over-powering. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, powerful and forceful, though kept in check by the acidity; it is a little muscular towards the lightly spiced finish with a long, baking-powder tinged finish. Impressive, although I find as much to enjoy in the regular bottling. Apr 2016, www.eRobertParker.com, Drink: 2020-2036
The 2015 Clarisse Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is darker, richer and deeper than the straight bottling, but it is not meaningfully better nor more complex. Super-ripe dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice and new leather are all pushed forward, but a measure of aromatic intensity has been conceded in the search for textural richness. Stéphane Derenoncourt and Romain Bocchio are the consulting winemakers. Apr 2016, www.Vinous.com
A Stéphane Derenoncourt wine. Soft and round. I think I prefer the regular bottling. This is too exaggerated. Apr 2016, www.Jancisrobinson.com, Drink: 2024-2030
