The quality at Cheval des Andes is constantly on the rise. Working closely with their Saint-Emilion sibling estate, Ch. Cheval Blanc, they are crafting some of the world’s finest Malbec-based blends. The 2018 vintage in Mendoza saw almost perfect growing conditions. At first, the wine shows some reduction – but underneath this is a wealth of full, rich fruit – with crunchy redcurrant, darker bramble and bilberry, as well as more delicate floral notes. There’s incredible freshness and vibrancy, speaking of the vineyards’ high altitude, with an almost orange zest edge to the palate. The tannins are seamless and ripe, while there’s stunning purity to the fruit that fills the palate, driving onto a long, fine finish.
