One of the best base cuvees out there is easily the 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape from Janasse. This crazy good wine (which was a smoking value on release) offers terrific freshness and purity as well as full-bodied richness, sweet tannin, notes of dark berry fruits, sappy herbs and pepper and a huge mid-palate. It’s firing on all cylinders today but will evolve easily for another decade. Mar 2017, www.robertparker.com
