This is also flirts with being exotic with its nose of dried yellow fruit aromas that includes whispers of pineapple and nectarine. Here too there is very fine mid-palate concentration that imparts a succulent mouth feel to the solidly complex and sneaky long finish that displays enough sweetness to notice which I find detracts from the overall sense of balance. Note that this very forward effort should drink well young. Tasted: Jun 15, 2014. Drink: 2016+
The 2012 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chenevottes has a lifted bouquet with touches of fresh pear, elderflower and pear drop. The palate is medium-bodied with tropical fruit and orange zest adorning the entry and a dose of lemon sherbet enlivening what is fundamentally a commercial finish. ||Domaine Philippe Colin is based outside Chassagne at a winery just off the RN6 along with Michel Niellon and one or two others who exchanged the more quixotic idea of producing wine in the village with the comfort of space. This was my final visit during five weeks in Burgundy tasting 2012s. Unfortunately many of the wines had just been racked, so I was limited in what I could taste. I have had many good experiences with the wines in the past, although these 2012s did not quite capture the imagination as much as I was expecting. eRobertParker.com.December, 2013
