This is quite generously wooded with plenty of menthol character to the otherwise more typical notes of earth, underbrush and humus that add breadth to the fresh and ripe red and dark currant aromas. The mouth feel of the mid-palate is unusually supple and relatively forward as the substantially scaled flavors display plenty of minerality on the gorgeously long finish that turns austere, serious and exceptionally firmly structured. This is very much old school in character and is going to need a very long stay in an appropriately cool cellar and my instincts are that this would not be a good candidate for early enjoyment. In fact, I would go so far as to say that if you're not going to age if for at least 12 years or so, don't buy it. Tasted: Apr 15, 2014. Drink: 2032+
