Lightly-cooked red raspberry, smoky black tea, and alkaline, marine notes scent the Jadot 2007 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes. It lacks the brightness that characterized its immediate siblings from Fuees and Sentiers, and in addition displays a slightly awkward tannic astringency. A suggestion of crushed stone adds to this wine’s relative sense of austerity, particularly in the context of its vintage. I don’t fancy this escaping from the grip of its tannins and would pair it accordingly and within the next several years, more normal expectations of longevity on the part of wines from this great site notwithstanding.
