Tasted blind at the Burgfest annual tasting, Raveneau's 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Montee de Tonnerre was not quite the stellar wine that I tasted at the domaine last year...but it is still bloody good! It has a crisp bouquet with great clarity; Granny Smith apples, flint and wet limestone scents gently unfurling in the glass. The palate is fresh and crisp on the entry. I appreciate the brightness and tension of this Chablis, particularly the sappiness that comes through on the finish that shows assiduous use of oak. Sublime. Plus, it will improve with age.
