Critic Notes

Bright, pale yellow. More fruity and inviting on the nose than the Petit Chablis, dominated by lemon, lime and crushed stone aromas. Concentrated and pliant but with a firm citrussy edge (red grapefruit?) giving the finish a slight youthful harshness. This should make a terrific village wine. Jul 2016, www.vinous.com

The 2015 Chablis has a honeyed bouquet with flecks of white chocolate. As the aromas unfold there is a seam of lemon curd and a distant scent of chalk dust. The palate is well balanced with superb salinity considering the warmth of the growing season; vibrant and quite deep toward the poised finish. It seems to have lost some of its nascent spiciness from barrel, yet there is unquestionably impressive body and concentration, suggesting it will age with style. Aug 2017, www.robertparker.com

Chablis: The Great Divide
Chablis’ historic and international reputation has been both a great asset and a hindrance with regards to the quality level of Chablis production. A visit from Domaines Barons de Rothschild
This week we were honoured to host our long standing partner Domaines Barons de Rothschild's commercial director Jean-Sebastien Philippe for a very special tasting.... It is not every day that one has the opportunity to taste a line up of wines from all of DBR's Bordeaux properties; in fact even individual tastings rarely take place outside of Bordeaux, so we ...

A New Era for Domaine Billaud-Simon
In 2014 Domaine Faiveley acquired one of the best-known names in Chablis, Domaine Billaud-Simon, amassing around 20 hectares of vineyards in some of the best terroirs in the region. During the takeover, Olivier Bailly stepped in as winemaker taking charge of winemaking from the 2014 vintage and gaining full viticultural control from 2015. Olivier has had some great experience both ...
