1995 Cepparello

flagCentral Italy / Italy

The 1995 Cepparello is one of the most refined wines in this vertical tasting. The tannins show an element of silky suppleness that isn’t found in the earlier vintages. Crushed flowers and sweet red berries linger on the caressing finish. Paolo De Marchi describes 1995 as a very cool year with a dark, cloudy August. Conditions improved, but not until the end of September. The fruit ripened gradually with the heat of the shorter days of fall and was finally picked on November 7, exceedingly late by any measure. The 1995 represents another important step in the evolution of Cepparello. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022. Jun 2012, www.robertparker.com
